The Elysium Colonial Zone was a colony of the Federation of Tugal based on the Tugalaise Isthmus, whic connects continents Utara and Selatan, and was a counterpart of the Colonial Republic of Elysia, which was controlled by the Despotate of Silvermoon. The colonial capital is Puerto Alegre and the colony is densely and diversely populated by exiled dissenters, debtors, government-headed merchants, and military generals. Elysium was granted semi-autonomy by doge Aguas III of Oporto Arawica on January 31, 2010, having been incorporated as a colony two days before. The colony was founded as a result of the Elysian Pact, which demanded that a more efficient alternative to the Yardianic Trade Route be found, and was funded by a joint alliance of individual Tugali merchants and Tugali companies and of Tetrarch Yzadha's regime itself.

The outbreak of the Valentine War caused Aguas III to levy extremely heavy taxes on the Tugalaise-Elysian people. While dissenters had always held resentful sentiments against the Tugali government in Puerto Bonito, the violent suppression of the Pi Day Riots caused the populations of both Elysian colonies to go into an uproar. The brief Tugalaise Coup on May 10, 2010 ended Jonas Mykoldeä's viceroyalty and saw his execution, and Puerto Bonitiqueño mayor Manuel Jíminez took power and declared an independent United Provinces of Elysion.
