Gerrares (pronounced hay-RRAWR-ayz) was a city-state in the Federation of Tugal that rose to dominance alongside Oporto Arawica during the Median Age of Tugali history. Located at a relatively large distance from the other Tugali city-states, the city spanned a forty-mile region of coastline stretching southwards from Cape Jayrarus. It was the origin of the Santandían language, which became a dominant language in Tugal and was propagated across the First Region when Gerrares created fortaleza colonies in Trinubes, Karalla, and around the coastal Arawdielli Sea.
Gerrares went to war with Simbopolis and its impoverished allies in the Tugali War of Unification. Its destruction opened the pathway for total Oportan dominance in Tugali politics for the remainder of Tugali history.
